WestHealth - Our History

Our History

A partnership dedicated to meeting community health care needs.

In 1992, Abbott Northwestern Hospital and North Memorial Medical Center formed a partnership to develop a health and wellness campus in Plymouth, Minnesota. The partnership purchased 38 acres of land at the intersection of Interstate 494 and Highway 55 to build their new medical facility. WestHealth, Inc. opened its doors to the public in September 1994.

The first two floors of the 120,000 square-foot building were dedicated to ambulatory health care: a same-day surgery center, urgent care, laboratory and imaging services. The top four floors were developed as medical office space to house primary care and specialty physician offices and outpatient clinics.

WestHealth quickly became a popular health resource for patients, physicians, employers and payers. As patient volumes grew and demand for outpatient services increased, a four-story, 78,000 square-foot addition was built in 1998 to accommodate a greater variety of physician clinics and health care services, including a pharmacy and WestHealth Women's Imaging Services.

Today, WestHealth is a landmark Twin Cities medical complex that provides convenient access to more than 50 medical clinics as well as a full array of quality outpatient services.
