Prosthetics is the field relating to prostheses, which is the replacement of a missing body part with an artificial substitute. With today's advances in surgical amputations and artfully designed artificial limbs, it is possible for an amputee to be equipped with a prosthesis that functions so efficiently, and appears so realistic, that he or she may be able to return to normal activities.
